the art of screaming

okay, so (south) florida wildlife has gone too far this time. a lizard came into my house. while loren was at work. i do not normally think of myself as a screamer. apparently, i am. it seems lots of screaming is necessary to properly catch and trap a lizard in a tupperware bowl and get it safely outside. the screaming was hard work and i'm ready for a nap now. or maybe it was the sprint to the front door with the lizard bowl that wore me out. i am not good with skittery creatures. hopefully the lizard will pass the word along to his lizard pals that there is a crazy woman in the house and they should all stay far away. unless his pals are the type that will want to see if they can make the lady scream, too. let's hope not.

You are hysterically funny Laura. Thanks for that delightful story.

Laura - this is why we love you! Super funny to us, but I'm not sure it was so super funny to you. Reminds me of the snake in Sandra's kitchen.

Too funny! I wish I could have seen that! It surprises me that you were a-screamin'. you're usually a lot more controlled than that!! Thanks for the laugh anyway!

don't worry, Pace will be up to the task before you know it! if it makes you feel better, even i, who own a lizard(gecko) and various other creatures learned the art of screaming living in New Orleans with mouse-sized flying cockroaches. i wasn't brave enough to catch them though. i ran and hid and sent my 4 yr old after them.

I really think I would have paid money to watch you capture and release the lizard!

That brings back memories of my house growing up. We had my mom, my sister, and me screaming and a paper sack (and no men to get it out). I don't think I have ever seen you out of control in a situation. You are a brave woman!

I can feel your pain! When we moved to New Orleans a lizard decided my bedroom was a good place for a nap. I made my little brother come take care of it. I would love to see a video of you with the lizard in a bowl! Next time maybe your kids can get out the camera while you get the tupperware bowl.

Hahaha! Were your kids involved in the catching/screaming/releasing back into the wild?

I can picture the whole thing. And you know what's funny? Just last night (I hadn't read your blog yet), Daniel and I were on our way out the door, and he bent over to pick up what he thought was a little tiny stick on the carpet. Only it wasn't a stick, it was a lizard! Which was very surprising to him, of course, to grab what he thought was a stick and have it turn out to be a lizard. I don't think he screamed, but there might have been a loud-ish shout. It was a very teeny baby gecko, only about 1 1/2 inches long, so I didn't mind it that much, but then Daniel tried to grab it, it shed its tail in his hand, and the tail was still wriggling around, which was pretty gross and caused some shudders.

And I was very thankful I did not have to be the one to catch it and take it outside.

GROSS!! i'm so sorry, laur. i think i would have gone and found a neighbor or something, because i really don't think i would have been up to the task of catching it. good job.

Your so funny. It seems you have a little more South Florida wildlife than us. I'm so glad to have a friend like you. i don't know what I would have done without me these past couple us days. My kids had a blast with you.
