mother/daughter moment
liesel and gwyneth and i have been doing something really fun. i guess they read in a book about a mom and a daughter who wrote notes back and forth to each other in a journal. g & l thought this sounded like fun (gwyneth actually started it first and then liesel joined in), so they each got a journal and we pass them back and forth every couple of days with little notes in them to each other. it's been really fun to read their thoughts on things, and i like being able to tell them all the good things i notice about them. i am writing this down in hopes that i will remember these moments when they are teenagers.....

What a fabulous idea!! Maybe they'll even write about things they wouldn't be as willing to talk about.
My neighbor read this book and thought that we would like it for book club - what is the name of it?
that's such a good idea, laur. you'll have to remind me about it when elsa gets older.
That is so sweet. What a wonderful way to remember these moments when they are young and to have to read when you are frustrated in the "teen years". :)
You're such a good mom. I wanna be just like you when I grow up!
I'd love to know the name of that book. It sounds like a fun idea. Right now I just get notes telling me how mean I am for making them clean their rooms, etc. :)
the one liesel and gwyneth read is called 'miss independence' (or 'miss independent', they couldn't remember)--just a warning, they said it "is a very, very girly book". they want me to read it, so i will let you all know how it is!
I love that idea - I wonder if my boys would do it with me. Tristan always recommends his library books to me, too - "Mom, you will looove 'Trapped in Death Cave'; it is such a good book, you've GOT to read it!" And embarrassingly enough, I do usually read them and maybe enjoy them.
Anyway, in unrelated news. . .YES we are coming in April, during your kids Spring Break, if that is still okay. I can't wait!!!! In fact, just this morning I was thinking about how we will get to your house exactly 2 months from today and I went around smiling about it. The only problem is that I'm so excited that somehow I'm already getting sad for when we have to leave and come home again - like I know it will get over too soon. But that is dumb to be thinking of that sadness already. Anyway, in also unrelated news (do I get a prize for longest comment ever?) I also love the little sweatshirt/hoodie from L&G - it's one of my favorite that Henry ever wears, and I think of your girls whenever I see it. I think I remember them getting them at the shower in our ward?
