after much deliberation and debating and counseling and a few prayers, we let liesel and gwyneth watch twilight. this is what liesel wrote on her blog about seeing the movie:
1. it's not as good as the book
2. it's way too artsy
3. and every one thinks I'm nuts to not like Taylor
4. and I'm really hoping New Moon is better
do you think i should let them watch new moon?

I love her commentary on it! I think it was smart to let them watch it. I'm not sure what I'd do about New Moon - I'm curious to see what that one is like. Maybe you watch it first (an excuse to go opening night!), talk to them about what is in it, and see whether they think they are old enough for that kind of material. I don't know, though - I was going to say let them make the choice (after they talk with you, so it's an informed choice), but I keep forgetting they are only 10. I'm glad I don't have "tweens" yet. Do they count as tweens? Twin tweens! Ha!
You let them read the book?!?
I'm just glad that I don't have to deal with that yet! I would definitely see it first and then decide. I agree with Liesel...The book was definitely better and I really don't like Taylor fro Jacob either...he's too little and "pretty" He's without a doubt nice looking, but not right for Jacob. I've already got my ticket for New Moon, going with some friends Saturday morning....would be fun to see with you!! I'll let you know what I think if you don't see it first.
So I always thought I'd never let a young daughter read the books. I've recently decided that I have no idea what I'd do w/ a pre-teen/teen aged daughter b/c I don't have one yet. All my friends w/ girls that age have allowed them to read/watch so what do I know? I'll let you know in 7+ years! good luck though.
I didn't realize when we were talking about it that New Moon was PG-13. That takes it to a whole new level of dilemma-hood with all their church friends going together to see it. Maybe you guys NEED to go to DisneyWorld the day of the party and no other day could possibly work. Or some other fun family activity. I'd definitely try to get as much mileage out of "it wasn't as good as the book" as I could, though. I agree 100% with her assessment. I'm hoping that seeing New Moon with friends and all the screaming teenagers will help me like it better than Twilight. When are you seeing it? Good luck!
I like Liesel's review. I seriously did not like the movie Twilight for various reasons - not the least of which was the fact that I think I personally could have done a better job on the hair and make-up. I will not see New Moon. This is one set of books that I want to remain in my imagination.
Hi this is Amelia Greenall. I wanted to know what Liesel's blog is called? Can you tell me or my mom? My email is miagreenall@sbcglobal.net thanks
